In the 2007 /08 season the team was first Lig ( Turkish second highest division) ascended to the Turkish Süper Lig ( Turkish league highest ) again as a master of TFF. Already in the first season failed to avoid relegation and they got back into the TFF 1 Lig. In order after the descent from the Süper Lig summer 2003 to be able to rise again new players was always continued to invest without looking at the consequences to the team and committed. So you also reached the summer of 2008 the expected rise in the Süper Lig However, since failed to avoid relegation in the first season, the club became deeper and deeper into financial difficulties and was the summer of 2011 before the bankruptcy. In order to rid the club of its debt, the club was given the name Kocaelispor. Instead, there was an intention, the second team of the city of İzmit and the unofficial second team Kocaelispors, the third division Körfez Belediyespor to rename in Kocaeli FK and from then carry on with the same name as the successor team. It should Kocaeli in the name and the club colors to clarify the status of the successor association Kocaelispor. So Kocaelispor went bankrupt and all players Kocaelispor changed for the new season to Körfezspor. The proposed name, the new logo and the new club colors were not accepted by the Turkish Football Federation. So it was agreed with the Association in the name Körfez Futbol Kulübü, short Körfez FK, and the club colors of green - black-red.

Kocaelispor went bankrupt after these developments, the debtor allowed the club to continue to participate with youth and reserve players in the game competition.
