Kocēni

Kocēni is a town in northern Latvia, not far from Valmiera.

The town developed around the estate Kokenhof. In the 19th century there was a brewery. 1938 local government was set up with the neighboring Duckershof.

Today, there is a primary school, a cultural center, a pharmacy, a sports club and a horse breeding.

Kocēnu novads

The County Kocēnu Novads was established in 2009 from the communities Bērzaine, Dikļi, Vaidava, Zilākalns and Kocēni. The administration is in place Kocēni. Initially led the district nor the name Valmieras novads. ( See also: Administrative divisions of Latvia )

2010, reported 7018 inhabitants. In the county the Zilaiskalns is ( German: Blue Hill), 126.6 meters is the highest elevation in the northwest of Livonia.
