Castle Kōchi
The castle Kōchi, (Japanese高 知 城, Kōchi - jo ) is a castle in the town Kōchi, Kōchi Prefecture in Japan.
History
The construction was begun in 1601 and completed in 1611 by Yamanouchi Kazutoyo. A large part of the original fort burned down in 1727, the new buildings were completed in 1753. The castle was restored in 1959 to fundamentally 1948. Although at this castle never a battle was fought, it is noteworthy because it is one of the few original Japanese castles, not a replica of the postwar period. The grounds of the castle is a public park in the spring and a popular place for hanami.
