Koeksister

Koeksister, also Koeksuster, is a braided into a ponytail, deep-fried pastry that is drawn after baking with a special syrup and dried. Word and recipe are Afrikaner origin, very common in South Africa. Koeksister derived from Afrikaans or Dutch " koek " ( = cake) and ( fry =) by siSSen. A Koeksister is consumed as a sweet dessert or just in between.
