Kofel

The Kofel is a 1342 m high mountain in the Oberammergau Alps. It can be seen well from the Oberammergau and Ettal of direction Due to its exposed location and striking form. The summit is only about a kilometer in a straight line from the center of Oberammergau away.

Routes

The direct route starts at the parking lot " Döttenbühl " near the Oberammergau cemetery at 840 meters altitude. After a meadow one, called " calves plate ", crossed with stunning views of the imposing Wegziel, it overcomes the greatest height difference on a wooded serpentine path to a rain shelter. From there, a via ferrata begins to rock summit.

Another way of ascent is possible, among other things, the Kolbensattelalm ( 1028 m, chair lift ) and the "King Trail" as Traverse. By combining different routes of Kofel can also be circumnavigated.

Secured path to the summit

The last hundred meters to be covered over a Gipfelweg, the, sure-footedness and freedom provided is suitable for families with children. Steep and exposed portions are secured by Fixstahlseile. After rain there is an increased risk of slipping sharply assigned rock sites. In Hüslers Mountain Climbing Alps Atlas of the riser with difficulty KS1 is rated as a secured path.

Around the cross on the summit there is a wonderful panoramic view, among other things, on the top and Unterammergau weather permitting.
