History

On May 11, 1991 - a few months after the fall of communism in Albania - published Nikolle Lesi and Aleksandër Frangaj in the northern Albanian town of Lezha the first edition of the newspaper. After a few months they moved to the capital Tirana. Lesi and Frangaj were the first editors of the newspaper.

Founded in January 1991, Koha Jone became one of the most influential newspapers in the country and attracted many nationally famous publicists. In 1992, the success continued, and the newspapers were divided on well-known names of the Albanian press, like Ben Blushi, Armand SHKULLAKU, Andi Bushati, Andi Bejtja and FRROK Cupi. Over time, Koha Jone took a more critical position towards the President Sali Berisha and the governments and became the opposition in the country. 1994 reached the newspaper a nationwide circulation of 73,000 copies, which was never surpassed by the Albanian press.

1996 Nikolle Lesi sole shareholder of the company, after he had bought the 40 percent of his partner Aleksandër Frangaj.

During the Lottery Uprising of 1997, based in Tirana on March 2, the first night after the imposition of emergency rule, burned down. The perpetrators could not be identified.

After 1997, influence and weight of the newspaper fell increasingly to 2007 Lesi his company to Aleksandër Frangaj, his former partner, sold Koha Jone and thus became part of the media group to TV Klan.
