Kōhaku (fish)

The Kohaku (Japanese红白, literally: red-white ) is a Nishikigoi (锦鲤, shorthand = Koi ), a colored carp. He has a white base color with red drawing (火Hi, literally fire) on the back (see picture) that goes over the head ( red color on the head is not a condition for a correct Kohaku ). The fins should have no red. The Kohaku is one of the first varieties that were specifically bred.

Kohaku is called red-white and is used only in the Koizucht so. He is one of the most popular forms of Koi breeding in Japan. beni = is used for example in Benigoi a solid red. hi = used in Kohaku - this Koi win mostly the Grand Champion in Japan; the term " beni " comes at Sanke & showa rarely used because a too large red area makes this inferior! other differences:

  • Tancho Kohaku (丹 顶 红白) - He is one of the most famous Kohaku. On his head is a circular Hi ( red), which is intended to represent the Japanese flag. This is a commonly held view. A Tancho is a Japanese red-crowned crane circular but oblong has not what this red spot on the head. If the Tancho is approximately one speaks of an Ippon.
  • Inazuma Kohaku (稲 妻 红白) - Inazuma stands for flash. The red is arranged in zigzag on the back
  • Nidan Kohaku (二段 红白) - Two patch - Kohaku
  • Sandan Kohaku (三 段 红白) - Three - spot Kohaku
  • Yondan Kohaku (四段 红白) - four spot Kohaku
  • Kohaku Godan (五 段 红白) - Five - spot Kohaku
  • Maruten Kohaku - He has a single red spot on the head and to other hi- spots on the body ( Tancho with other red spots ).
  • Menkaburi Kohaku - The hi ( red) goes over the entire head.
  • Kuchibeni Kohaku (口红 红白, literally: Lipstick Kohaku ) - Lip Stain Kohaku ( Pout - Kohaku ) He looks as if he had placed lipstick.
  • Kanoku Kohaku - the Koi is patched red
  • Doitsu Kohaku (独 红白, literally: German Kohaku ) - It can be used as any of the represented here varieties occur. He is a junction with the European mirror carp and has a leather-like skin. It can not be a Sanke because Sanke are three colors. It is merely an almost scaleless Kohaku - Dandruff occurs sporadically still on the back or the side line.
