Koji Kondo

Koji Kondo (Japanese近藤 浩 治, Kondō Koji; born August 13, 1961 in Nagoya ) is a Japanese composer. He is known for his work on many video games company Nintendo. Kondō derives from the existing composers, sound artists and programmers Sound - group of Nintendo's development department Nintendo Entertainment Analysis & Development.

Biography

Kondō began as a 5- year-old to use his home electric organ for first musical experiments. After graduating from high school he studied at the School of Art Osaka in Kanan. He studied more the arts and employed for a long time with the painting, like writing and process of remixing of music. He only learned the cello and the piano and no other instruments. The early 1980s, while he was at university, Nintendo also sought among the students there employees. Kondō took advantage of the opportunity and applied.

Works

Kondo's first project was the arcade game of golf.

In the early days of the console era were the ways to realize large arrangements, does not exist and so Kondō had to be limited to the stubborn computer programming. Over the years the consoles have always been better equipped, the performance of the sound chips increased proportionally with the visual processing chips. Kondō the music could always be more realistic and in greater abundance, so he started from a simple Super Mario Bros., with simple structures, over complicated samples in Super Mario Bros. 3, then with stereo on the SNES, complex and realistic on the N64, finally, on the Nintendo GameCube with samples in CD quality, and on the Wii for Super Mario Galaxy with orchestral recordings.

For the NES, he produced, among others the music for Soccer, Kung Fu, Family BASIC, Nazo no Murasamejō and Ice Hockey.

Together with Shigeru Miyamoto, he is one of the most famous employee of Nintendo.
