Kokořín from the south

Kokořín ( German Kokorschin ) is located near Kokořín in the south of Switzerland Daubaer Okres in Melnik, Czech Republic. The once dilapidated castle was rebuilt in 1911 in the style of a medieval knight's castle. The Castle is the most famous tourist attraction in the Daubaer Switzerland.

History

The fortified palace with the castle wall was built around 1320 by Hynek Berka of Dubé. End of the 15th century the castle in the Gothic style of the gentlemen from Klinštejna was rebuilt. From the 17th century the castle was abandoned.

1894 bought Vaclav Spacek of Star Castle ruin. Under the direction of the architect Eduard Sochor, the castle was restored in 1911 to 1918 and designed in Neo-Gothic style. In 1948 the castle become the property of the state. In 2001 the castle was given the status as a National Cultural Monument.
