Kolbastı

Kolbastı, also referred Faroz Kesmesi or Hoptek, is a Turkish solo or group dance that is danced mainly in the cities of Trabzon and in the district Akçaabat. For several years, the dance is also popular in all over Turkey.

History

One popular legend has it that the emergence of dance originated in the 1930s, as an auxiliary troops of the Turkish police, the so-called Kolluk Kuvvetleri, festivals stormed. The dance originated in Trabzon. The name of the dance is Basti from the abbreviation of the warning call Kolluk Kuvvetleri! emerged, which is about the police coming! or police raid! means. The word derives from the verb basmak Basti, which means " storm " or " press " means.
