Kollbrunn

Kollbrunn is a place in the political community in the district of Winterthur in the canton cell Zurich in Switzerland.

Geography

Kollbrunn located in Tösstal southeast of Winterthur and is adjacent to the communities Schlattmann, Kyburg and White Lingen. The town is located 493 m above sea level. M.. Highest point is the Weidberg at 622 meters above sea level, the lowest point marked the course of the river Töss on the border city of Winterthur 483 m above sea level. The landscape is characterized by hills, forests and meadows, the river course of the Töss, various nature reserves and former industrial buildings. Kollbrunn is for the municipality of Zell ( ZH), a large and important part of the municipality; the settlement area of 3.000 km ² comprises Kollbrunn.

History

When there were no roads in the Tösstal, the traffic was handled if possible on the river bed. The water power was used for the operation of mills. From 1800 several water channels were built to the emerging factories. The construction of the Tösstalstrasse 1837 completed. Homework as basketry, weaving and embroidery was common. By building the factories lost this work to appeal and many Tösstal were factory workers. The first unions were founded and today's rights had to be fought for.

A private company built the railway Tösstal a railway line from Winterthur to Tösstal, 1875 and started operations. Since 1912 it belongs to the SBB. In the 20th century included some companies, since the work has shifted to Asia; many factory workers lost their jobs. Company premises were redeveloped, new SMEs are subjected to one or it originated lofts.

While cattle and cultivation until the middle of the last century in Kollbrunn people secured an income, this area in the 21st century is of little significance.

Kollbrunn with more than 2245 inhabitants, by far the most populous part of the community.

Economy and infrastructure

Once a dominantly agricultural small village, Kollbrunn developed in recent decades to a well-mixed economic structure in which commercial and small businesses are widely spread. Well-established residential areas have also contributed to the development as the Village shopping center, post office, a bank and five restaurants.

Traffic

The railway line Winterthur - Bauma -Rapperswil promoted the location Kollbrunn. Since 1875 there is a train station. The Zurich S-Bahn connects Kollbrunn by the S 26 every half hour with the centers Winterthur, Bauma and Rapperswil. A coach course combines Kollbrunn about Weisslingen with Pfäffikon. Zurich Airport is by road in 23 miles away respectively can be reached by train in 33 minutes ( with a change in Winterthur Hauptbahnhof).

Train

The two years kindergarten are taught in kindergarten Kollbrunn and the six years of primary school in the school house Kollbrunn. The schoolhouse Castel Sant'Angelo secondary school located in the neighboring Rikon.

Leisure and culture

The local clubs actively participate in the various leisure and cultural activities. Biking and hiking trails offer numerous sports facilities.
