Koller Gallery

The Galerie Koller is the oldest private gallery proven Hungary (founded in 1953) and is located in the Castle District of Budapest. The exhibition rooms are spread over three floors, the top floor is the memorial room for the Hungarian artist Amerigo Tot.

History

The gallery György Koller (1923-1996) founded in 1953 initially the Association of Artists of the engraver ( " RMAK "). Because of its entitlement to quality and authenticity of works of art, the club quickly became a household name in the Hungarian art life and art trade - mainly because the artists more freedom and personal support experienced by the club, than about of the state was possible.

In 1980 opened the first private gallery in Hungary in the studio house of Amerigo Tot. From this point on, the Galerie Koller received permission to present sculptures, small sculptures and paintings in addition to the graphics. In 1984 she built a shop and salesroom in the Hungarian National Gallery, the cooperation with the state institutions strengthened. In addition showrooms in the Petőfi Sándor utca and the Hilton Hotel was opened in Buda, which made it possible to present the art to a wider audience. It was also enhanced by the organization of exhibitions, such as János Kass in London, by Imre Varga in Venice, Vienna, Basel and Paris or by Miklós Melocco in Hamburg the reputation of Hungarian contemporary art abroad. György Koller died in 1996.

In 2006, the grandson György Koller's management of the gallery. The aim of the gallery is to represent Hungarian and international contemporary and modern art. After a period of modernization, the gallery has successfully organized numerous exhibitions at home and abroad.

Represented Artists

Since the establishment of the gallery it represents contemporary artists, especially engraver and graphic artist. In this tradition, artists such as Miklós Borsos, Lajos Szalay, János Kass, Vladimir Szabó Gyula and Hincz be issued. The Galerie Koller also represents modern and contemporary sculptors such as Miklós Borsos, Imre Varga, Miklós Melocco and Péter Párkányi as well as modern and contemporary painters, such as István Szőnyi István Csók, Bertalan Por, István Gábor Mácsai and Szenteleki and Mozes Incze. Amerigo Tot Memorial Room
