Kolliger Mühle

The Kolliger mill ( also Kolligermühle ) is a water mill and a living space in the local church Kollig in the South Eifel.

The wheel of Kolliger mill is powered by water from the small river Elzbach, which is also briefly mentioned the Elz. Other water mills in the vicinity are the Gehringer mill and oil mill.

The mill probably dates from the 17th century. It has mounted over time improvements and enhancements, but one was always aimed the historical reputation of the old buildings to preserve.

On the grounds of Kolliger mill has four buildings: the farm buildings, the house with the water wheel, a former chicken coop and a former pigsty. The former stables have been renovated and converted into a flat. The exterior walls and internal partitions of the building consist of timber with slate, the roofs are covered with slate. Between the buildings a gepflansterter with cobblestones courtyard is a fountain in the middle. A small chapel stands at the entrance to the grounds.

One of the hiking trails to Santiago de Compostela ( the Way of St. James ) goes along the Kolliger mill. The pilgrims can get accommodation for the night.
