History

The emergence of Holweider breakpoint is very closely associated with football. In the early 1950s played the then SC Prussia Dellbrueck successfully with the German championship. Many football fans came from Holweide. And so it was obvious that this would easily go into the special trains to away games. The Holweider fans requested a breakpoint at the line. Support they found at the former Chairman of Prussia Dellbrueck, Willy Roehrig. He sat down at the German Federal Railways to ensure that a breakpoint could arise. The Federal Railroad came to the opposite concern under the condition that there must be a makeshift ramp to be built for entry and exit. This was for Willy Roehrig is not an obstacle, because he was a building contractor. He built a breakpoint in the shortest time. The Federal Railway recognized this and let the trains stop there. Even after the football matches held there as scheduled trains and so the Holweider station was born. Popularly called the breakpoint later " Willy- Roehrig Memorial Station ".

To meet the increase in commuter traffic from Bergisch Gladbach to Köln and therefore denser schedule bill, the Federal Railroad decided to set up an S -Bahn operation. After the start of the route electrification and the expansion according to the S-Bahn standard from 1972 was 1975, a S -Bahn line from Bergisch Gladbach started to Cologne Choir hamlet.
