Kolovesi-Nationalpark

The Kolovesi National Park is a national park in the Finnish region of South Savo and is located in the municipalities Enonkoski, Heinavesi and Savonranta. Its 23 km ² are almost completely covered by several lakes, but these are largely filled by large islands.

The national park was founded in 1990 to protect the rare Saimaa ringed seal. For these are the long, narrow bays of the islands is ideal havens in which they give birth undisturbed and can be absorbed.

For this reason, the driving of the National Park with motor boats of the rare exceptions is strictly prohibited apart, and also other boats may be used only restricted in the spring. Anyone planning a boat trip in Kolovesi National Park, must be exactly over these prohibitions and restrictions inform, for example, the nearest tourist office.

The landscape of the Kolovesi National Park is characterized by some steep rock rising from the water shore. In the area of the mountain Ukonvuori there are Stone Age rock drawings and a hiking trail to the summit.
