History
The parish of the Visitation to Kolsass was probably founded in vorkarolingischer time since it was already 788 raised to the mother parish. The present town is made up of two ancient settlements emerged ( village with church and Mühlbach ), and was first mentioned in 1050 as Quolesazz or Cholsasz. The place name is evidently composed of the two Romansh ( Ladin ) words Col ( hill ) and Sass (rock ). This could relate to the castle hill of the Castle Mountain Rescue, whose settlement dates back to the Iron Age.
