Kolubara District

Kolubara (Serbian Колубарски округ, Kolubarski okrug ) is a Serbian administrative district in the northwest of the Serbian heartland.

It consists of the following municipalities ( opstine ):

  • Osečina
  • Ub
  • Lajkovac
  • Valjevo
  • Mionica
  • Ljig

This district has 2002 200.560 inhabitants according to the census. The main administrative center is the city of Valjevo, on the banks of the river Kolubara.

This region is important for their cultural and historical monuments such as the Turkish palace, a typical example of Turkish architecture from the 13th century. Next worth seeing are the tower of Nenadovic family and the Church of Valjevo in 1838, a neoclassical building.

Important industries in this region are the metal industry ( " Krusik " ​​and " Gradac " ), the food and the meat industry ( " Srbijanka ").

The main tourist locations are the mountain Divčibare and the spa Vrujci.
