Komagane, Nagano

Komagane (Japanese駒ヶ根 市, -shi ) is a city in the center of Nagano Prefecture on the main Japanese island of Honshu.

Geography

The River Tenryu flows through the city from north to south.

History

The city Komagane was founded on July 1, 1954 from the former municipalities Akaho, Miyada, Nakazawa and Ina. Miyada but was spun off against the inclusion on September 30, 1956 again due to strong opposition from the population.
