Komatsuna

Komatsuna (Japanese小松 菜; komatsuna, Brassica rapa variants perviridis also: Japanese mustard spinach) is a leafy vegetable of the same kind as the turnip.

Komatsuna is grown commercially in Japan and Taiwan. The name comes from the Japanese (小松 菜, komatsuna ), ' small pine tree vegetables ". In a full-grown plant, the leaves are dark green with narrow light green stems, about 30 cm high and 18 cm wide. The plant is mostly grown in the spring and fall, as they can bear neither extreme heat nor extreme cold for extended periods of time.

Use

It is usually stir-fried, pickled, boiled and used as a soup or fresh vegetables used in salads. Komatsuna is a rich source of calcium. Komatsuna found in some Asian countries as a food plant use. The leaves of the Komatsuna plant can be eaten at any stage of growth.
