Kompania Węglowa

Kompania Węglowa S. A. is a Polish coal company headquartered in Katowice. It employs 62,800 people in 16 mines and five companies. Every year he can promote 53 million tons of coal. The daily output is 193,000 tons of coal (January 2008). According to the company, it is the largest mining companies in Europe. Kompania Węglowa divided into four SPCs.

Unions

In KW there are 177 trade unions, for whose maintenance the employer has to spend 20 million zloty a year or 6 million euros. The largest of these is part of the Federation of Trade Unions NSZZ Solidarność. 25.5 % of the workforce, or 16,100 persons are members of the union.

News

Since December 2007, consisting of 11 unions strike committee leads a strike for higher wages ( 6.9 % increase in December 2007, up 14% from January 2008). A day of strike brings the group 43 million zloty loss. By 2015, the Group plans to invest 6.5 billion zloty.
