Kompaniivka

Kompanijiwka (Ukrainian Компаніївка; Russian Компанеевка / Kompanejewka ) is an urban-type settlement in the center of the oblast in Ukraine Kirovohrad. The village with 4,500 inhabitants ( 2013) is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

Geography

Kompanijiwka is located on Suhoklija (Ukrainian Сугоклія ), a right tributary of the Inhul, 31 km south of Kirovohrad. The settlement council municipality still include not only Kompanijiwka the villages Hromadske (Ukrainian Громадське ) with about 30 residents, Schywaniwka (Ukrainian Живанівка ) with about 540 inhabitants, and Luschok (Ukrainian Лужок ) with about 70 residents.

History

The settlement was founded in the second half of the 18th century. In 1933, the city center of Rajons newly formed within the then comprehensive a larger area Odessa Oblast. In 1965, the village Rajonzentrum of the newly founded Rajon Kompanijiwka and received the status of an urban-type settlement.

Kompanijiwka is the administrative seat of, founded in 1965, the same Rajons. The Rajon Kompanijiwka has 15,600 inhabitants ( 2012) and an area of 967 km ². The population density is 16 inhabitants per km ².
