Kon-Tiki (1950 film)

Kon-Tiki is a Norwegian documentary about the Kon-Tiki expedition of 1947, the Norwegian explorer, adventurer and writer Thor Heyerdahl and his expedition companions. Thor Heyerdahl produced the film together with Olle Nordemar. The documentary from 1950 in 1952 won an Oscar in the category " Best Documentary ". Kon-Tiki was the "Best Foreign Language Film " nominated in 1952 at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts ( BAFTA, literally British Academy of Film and Television Arts ) and the British Academy Film Awards in the category.

At the beginning of the film explains Thor Heyerdahl 's theory that Polynesia was settled from South America 1,500 years ago, which was in contrast to the established scientific thesis on an immigration from Asia. In addition, he explains that he can prove by means of its simple -to-date with the raft crossing that this time would have been at least possible. 1955 presented Heyerdahl Galapagos another documentary on the same subject. 2012, a film about the Kon-Tiki expedition was produced in Norway under the same name. This is a biographical film drama about the explorer and adventurer Thor Heyerdahl and his Kon-Tiki expedition and its members. The film was directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg and the lead role as Thor Heyerdahl played Pål Sverre Hagen Valheim.
