Kon-Tiki-Museum

The Kon-Tiki Museum (Norwegian Kon-Tiki Museet ) is a Norwegian museum in Oslo. It is located on the Bygdøy peninsula.

Shown are the original Kon-Tiki raft, maps and equipment of the expedition, a replica of the Ra II, exhibits on marine research, models of the three types of caves of Easter Island. In addition, it houses a library with over 8,000 books. Since 1949, housed in a temporary building in 1950 started the construction of a designed by the architects FS Platou and Otto Torgersen Museum complex, which was opened in 1957. 1978 opened an extension.

In collaboration with the Norwegian National Library manages the 4,500 publications extensive library Bjarne Kroepeliens and the archive Heyerdahl's the museum. Next diaries latter includes original manuscripts, private letters, expedition plans, articles and cuttings, and unique photo and film material. The archive was declared in 2011 for the World Soundtrack Awards.

2012 presented a special exhibition on the production of the new Kon-Tiki Museum, the feature film.
