Kona Bicycle Company

The Kona Bicycle Company is a bicycle manufacturer based in Ferndale (Washington) and Vancouver (British Columbia). Primarily, the company has specialized in the production of high -end mountain bikes, especially in downhill and freeride with the successful Stinky and bar series, but the product range also includes dirt bikes like the Cowan, racing bikes as King Zing, cyclocross wheels as Jake the Snake and touring bikes like the Kona Sutra, as well as children's bikes as the Makena. Since 2006 there is also a women's line called Lisa. In 2008, the already existing clothes line has expanded massively.

The company name (company) was created by the love of the business owner to Kailua -Kona in Hawaii. The company was founded in 1988 by Jacob Jake the Snake Heilbron, Dan Gerhard and early MTB racer and champion Joe Murray.

Kona Jake the Snake model won national championships in cyclocross. The team wheel differed from the Series wheel through a complete Shimano Dura Ace groupset, while the series wheel has a Shimano 105 group. Full suspension bikes from Kona are characterized by four - bar frame, recognizable by the wheel links ( to 2005 mostly black, mostly from 2006, silver), the springs, the rear axle and invert the force of the vibration of the chainstay.

Kona has developed global partnerships with bike parks, primarily with Whistler Blackcomb Bike Park in Whistler, Canada, where custom-made park drivers manufactured by Kona can rent bikes.
