Opened in 1990, The Konohana Bridge is a self-anchored (non-genuine ) suspension bridge with only one, extending to the longitudinal axis suspension cable, which is supported by A-shaped pylons. The hangers are secured to the suspension cable does not, as is customary, mounted on the outer sides of the bridge deck, but at its center line. The hangers are also arranged vertically, but alternately obliquely forward and diagonally stretched backwards. The hangers are protected on both sides on the road by guardrails that simultaneously form the central reservation between the carriageways. The road carrier consists of a hollow box section with a cantilevered plate.

The suspension bridge itself has a span of 300 m and a length between the anchors of about 540 m. With the access ramps, the building is approximately 1700 m long. The track support is 26.5 m wide; of which 17.5 m on the road and about 3 m wide median strip and each of 4.5 m on the side walkways including the railings.
