Konstantin Sakaev

Konstantin Rufowitsch Zakayev (Russian Константин Руфович Сакаев, scientific transliteration Konstantin Rufovič Sakaev; born 13 April 1974) is a Russian chess master.

Career

Zakayev was 1990 World Champion awarded the Grandmaster title in 16 -year-olds, 1992 world champion of the under-18s and got in the next year at the World Chess Federation FIDE. In 1999 he won the Russian Individual Championship. Together with the Russian team, he was twice Olympic champion (1998 and 2000). 2001/2002 he was a participant at the FIDE World Cup ( " knock-out " mode) in Moscow, where he failed in the third round to Yevgeny Bareev. In the 2007 European Championship in Dresden Zakayev finished with six other players tied 1st - 7th Rank. In the required stitch fighting for the European title he lost to the later Second Emil Sutovsky and finished sixth.

Zakayev played in the 2006/07 season in the German Bundesliga for multiple chess team champion SG Porz.

His current Elo rating is 2591, so that he is on position 279 in the world rankings (as of November 2012). He had his highest ever Elo rating of 2677 in January 2005. Recently in the top 30 in the world rankings, he was in April 2005.
