The Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin ( Berlin Sinfonie-Orchester/BSO to July 2006 ) is one of the major orchestras in Berlin.

History

1925 was established as a predecessor, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, which emerged again from the Blüthner Orchestra. The first director was Oskar Fried, who was forced to emigrate in 1934. 1952, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra was re-established in the former eastern part of the city and has already gained in the 1960s and 1970s under the direction of Kurt Sanderling international recognition. During his tenure (1992-1998), the former BSO officially became the resident orchestra at the Konzerthaus Berlin. From 2006 to 2011 Lothar Zagrosek was chief conductor.
