Koogu a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community is Azeri ( Azeri vald ). It is located in Ida -Viru county (East Wierland ) in the north- east of Estonia

Description and History

The village has 32 ​​inhabitants ( 2011).

At the beginning of the 13th century, the village Paimela was on the territory of today's Koogu. Later it developed into the manor of Koogu. It was first documented in 1685. In 1807 the estate was the property of the noble family of Baltic German food.

In the first half of the 19th century, this historic manor house, an elongated, single-storey stone building was built. It burned down in 1904. In the former park of the estate are today only the ruins to see. It still preserves some outbuildings of the time, most of which were converted.

Last owner of the goods before the expropriation in the course of the Estonian land reform in 1919 was the Baltic German Otto von Schilling.
