Köpmangatan

Köpmangatan is a street in the old town of Stockholm today (Sweden). It is the earliest written records of Stockholm street that still bears its original name today. It is first mentioned in 1323 as " in medio vici dicti køpmangatu ". Your name goes back to the fact that in this street merchants (Swedish köpmän ) had their stalls. The road linked the Middle Ages the central square Stortorget with the out- of the eastern city wall space Fiskartorget. It was inhabited by predominantly German traders who also had their stalls here. The place is regarded as the actual marketplace and center of Stockholm in the Middle Ages.
