Koppigen

Koppigen is a municipality in the administrative district of Emmental in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

Koppigen located in the northeast of the canton of Bern at the border with the Canton of Solothurn.

The municipality borders the Bernese Koppigen communities Willadingen, Höchstetten, Alchenstorf, Niederösch, Utzenstorf and Zielebach and Solothurn communities Obergerlafingenstrasse and Recherswil. Koppigen is drained by the creek Oesch.

Population

With 2037 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Koppigen belongs to the medium-sized municipalities in the canton of Bern. Of the residents 94.5 % are German, 1.2 % and 0.8 % speak Serbo-Croatian albanischsprachig (as of 2000). The population of Koppigen amounted in 1850 to 1012 inhabitants, 1900 to 1102 inhabitants. During the 20th century the population grew steadily. 1950 1551 inhabitants were counted to determine the year of thousands turn cracked Koppigen the 2000 inhabitants border.

Traffic

Koppigen has no rail connection. However, there are bus services to Burgdorf and Wynigen ( by BLS AG powered ) and Utzenstorf - Bätterkinden ( by post bus ).

Educational institutions

On the Oeschberg the cantonal school of horticulture is located with other organizations of the green industry. On the school grounds every two years the end of June, the Swiss trade fair for garden, fruit and vegetable öga place, the most important exhibition of the green industry in Switzerland.
