Koppl

Koppl is a municipality in the province of Salzburg in Austria with 3263 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The place in the district Flachgau bordered on the eastern outskirts of the city of Salzburg. In Nesslgraben between Koppl and Hof bei Salzburg, the Salzburg Ring, a motorcycle race track that was used in their past for Formula 2 races.

Geography

The municipality is located in the transition zone of the Osterhorngruppe the Salzburg Lake District. History

The Church in Koppl is mentioned in the 13th century as a Vicariate Church of Neumarkt. Until the secularization Koppl seat was a Hofmark of the Bishop of Chiemsee. After a fire on 23 July 1816, the church was re-consecrated in Koppl on July 12, 1886 by Archbishop Albert Franz Eder.

Guggenthal originally belonged to the municipality Gnigl ​​when they were amalgamated in 1935 to Salzburg, the Guggenthaler decided to come to church Koppl.

The opened in 1969 is located in the Salzburg Ring nettle gap between Koppl and Hof bei Salzburg.

The village Koppl itself is about 1 ½ miles south of the Wolfgangseestraße, diversion at the Salzburg Ring. It belongs to the village Habach ( the municipal seat is therefore formally), and extends along the municipal road, at around 750 meters above sea level. A. The coupler Moor

The largest contiguous marsh area in the municipal area is the coupler Moor. In a basin west of the town it used to have a far greater extent than today. The enlightened people of the 19th century published wetlands and bogs as unproductive areas that should be converted to farmland.
