Köprüçay River

The Köprüçay at Selge with the Roman stone arch bridge

Köprüçay ( ancient Greek: Eurymedon ) is a river that flows in Pamphylia, in what is today southern Turkey, the Taurus Mountains Coming, at the ancient Aspendos to the Mediterranean. The Eurymedon played in the Persian Wars an important role, since BC the battle took place at its mouth 466/465 at the Eurymedon.

In the Aspendos Eurymedonbrücke preserved medieval crosses the river. About 42 km upstream on the way to Selge crosses a - still busy - Roman stone arch bridge in the river, depending on water level, 30 to 35 m height. At the upper reaches in the field of city Timbriada there was in a sanctuary of the river god also an ancient bridge.

The area around the Köprüçay was declared in 1973 Koprulu Kanyon National Park.
