Geography

Geographical Location

Basket is located northeast of Waiblingen on the Buocher height at the edge of the Rems valley. The surroundings of the town is dominated by agriculture. In addition to orchards and fruit of the vineyard dominates the landscape, which is grown in the layers Sommerhalde, Korber head, Mountain, Hoernle and Steingrüble.

Community structure

The municipality includes the villages Kleinheppach basket and basket. The former municipality was incorporated into Kleinheppach basket on 1 January 1972. The place Steinreinach has risen in basket and was repealed in 1936 as a residential space. In the area of the district is the Kleinheppach Outbound place paddock. The district Kleinheppach is a village within the meaning of Baden-Württemberg municipal code with its own mayor and Ortschaftsrat.

History

The first known written reference dates from the year 1270. Esslinger In a document from the year 1270 is testified that the hospital in Esslingen by the Convention of the convent in Steinheim ( Murr ) has acquired land in basket. It was not until the industrialization at the turn of the century, combined with a disastrous phylloxera infestation, cleared in the Rems Valley in all the vineyards and the vines had to be burned, justified the change of basket for today's residential community, with its good infrastructure.

Family History

Through the Thirty Years' War the city suffered severe population losses. A few families were able to save themselves by temporary escape, including the Singer family, which was after their return to the most numerous family in the village. Progenitor of all modern singer is born in 1573 Esaias Singer.

Religions

Since the introduction of the Reformation in 1535 basket is dominated Evangelical Lutheran. The church belongs to the Church District Waiblingen. There is also a community of the New Apostolic Church in basket.

Incorporations

On 1 January 1972 Kleinheppach was incorporated.

Mayor

In the mayoral election unopposed 8 March 2009 Jochen Müller was confirmed with 97.95 percent of the valid votes with a voter turnout of only 27.21 percent for a third term.

Parish council

Since the last municipal election held on 7 June 2009, the council has 18 members. The turnout was 50.84 %. The choice was as follows:

Community partnerships

Since 1974 basket maintains a community partnership to Matrei in East Tyrol. In 1989, a partnership with Mansle added in France. Finally basket is twinned with Steinach in Thuringia since 1991.

Culture and sights

Basket is due to the Württemberg wine road that leads past numerous attractions.

Museums

In the district Kleinheppach a Stone Age museum. The local former town hall is home to a sizeable local private collection with finds dating back to the Ice Age, as well as a craft and folk art collection of 18th to 20th century. In the local evangelical church with beginnings in 1355 and the nave of 1480 are glass paintings by Hans Gottfried von Stockhausen.

Structures

The historic center is dominated by the Protestant church of 1832, has been adopted by the predecessor of 1500 the tower. He had received its present baroque conclusion after the second fire in 1707. Basket is a wine-growing commune, whose locations are Großlage head in the region Rems - growing region of Württemberg Stuttgart.

Traffic

Basket is through the federal highway 14 ( Stockach - Waidhaus ) connected to the national road network. About the Hanweiler saddle it also is directly connected to Winnenden.

Education

In basket there is a primary and secondary school with Werkrealschule ( Kepler School ) and a primary school (Urban School ), which are attached in the district Kleinheppach the primary classes. For the youngest inhabitants, there are two local, three Lutheran and Roman Catholic kindergarten. The private club Korber diaper speedster also offers a service for Cribs. At the Kepler school a child care center after school to 17 clock for school children will be offered.

The Community College Lower Rems eV has a branch in basket.
