Korean Service Medal

The Korean Service Medal is a military award of the U.S. Armed Forces, which was introduced at the direction of President Harry S. Truman on 8 November 1950 and was intended for soldiers who were involved in the Korean War between June 27, 1950 and July 27, 1954.

The award was presented to members of the U.S. armed forces doing their service in the fields of war, including its territorial waters. To achieve this award, a soldier had at least 30 consecutive days or a total of at least 60 days in the prescribed area perform his duties. The Defense Department declared 13 different operations where this award can come to wear. Multiple awards will be marked with a service star.

The medal was awarded only to 1954, since 1961, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and from 2004, the Korea Defense Service Medal is intended for use in Korea.

The colors of the Order of the belt and the belt buckle indicate the reference to the United Nations.
