Korenica

Korenica is a village on the western edge of the plain Koreničko polje in Croatian Lika- Senj. It is located in the town of Plitvice Jezera in the historical region of Lika. The village is 660 meters above sea level. Korenica is a Durchfahrtsort and situated at an important crossroads near the Plitvice Lakes.

After the Second World War, the town was renamed in Titova Korenica. This change of name in 1991 after the state independence of Croatia undone.

In the former Yugoslavia presented ( Titova ) Korenica is its own community, which the municipalities Plitvice Lakes and Udbina were assumed. Since 1997 Korenica is no longer a separate municipality, but the seat of the combined municipality the Plitvice Lakes.

Most residents live on agriculture or tourism, and are mostly in the Plitvice Lakes National Park employs.

Korenica is also the starting station for hikes in the Plješevica Mountains.
