Korgau is a part of the town Bad Schmiedeberg in Wittenberg district in Saxony- Anhalt.

Geography

Korgau Located two kilometers southeast of Bad Schmiedeberg on the eastern edge of the Duebener Heath. The place can be reached by roads of Bad Schmiedeberg and Moschwig.

History

Korgau consists of the two districts wholesale and Kleinkorgau together that have been combined into the community Korgau from July 20, 1950, according to available. The first mention of both places should be done by 1400. Through the town lay on the old post road from Duben after Pretzschendorf, thus it came in the Thirty Years' War in widespread destruction by marauding troops.

Großkorgau belonged until 1815 to the Official Pretzschendorf of the Kingdom of Saxony, and then got to the Wittenberg circle of the district of the Prussian province of Saxony Merseburg.

Until June 30, 2009 Korgau was a separate municipality. The last mayor was Bernd Langbein.
