Korogocho

Korogocho is to Kibera and Mathare is the third largest slum of the Kenyan capital Nairobi. It belongs to the municipality Kasarani and is located in the eastern part of the city, adjacent to the Kariobangi, Dandora and Lucky Summer quarter. The name " Korogocho " refers to the word " kurugucu " from the language of the Kikuyu and means as much as " confusion, chaos, waste ".

In Korogocho live, according to estimates at least 150,000 people, mainly through informal care activities for their livelihood. A fraction of the population get income from formal employment, especially in the surrounding industrial areas. On the adjacent dump of Dandora work of thousands of people and looking for food or recyclables - things that are used or sold for further processing.
