Korpo

Korpo ( swedish ), finn Korppoo, is a former municipality in the archipelago off the coast of Southwest Finland. Today belongs to the town of Parga Korpo ( Parainen ).

The area of Korpo was settled in the Middle Ages by Swedish farmers. The parish Korpo was probably founded in 1300 but only in 1434 first mentioned. At the beginning of 2009, Korpo merged with the municipalities of Nagu, Houtskär and Iniö as well as the city of Parga to the city Väståboland together, which was in 2012 renamed again in Parga.

The former municipality of Korpo located west of Nagu and southeast of Houtskär and comprises a total of over 2,000 islets and cliffs.
