Korswandt

Korswandt is a municipality near the seaside resort of Heringsdorf on the island of Usedom in the so-called Achterland. The community is managed by the Office of Usedom -Süd, located in the town of Usedom. By 2005, the village belonged to the Official Ahlbeck - Szczecin Lagoon.

Geography and transport

Korswandt is located three kilometers south of Ahlbeck on the B 110 amidst the nature park Usedom am Wolgastsee. East of the village there is the border with Poland. In the western part of the municipality of Gothensee is. In the forest east of the hamlet Ulrich Horst is the Krebssee, southeast of Wolgast lake, the Black Heart.

History

The area of Korswandt was settled very early, as proven many early and ancient historical localities. The first written mention of the town was in 1243 as Szutoswantz when Duke Barnim I of Pomerania, the village, the creek Lassovnisza, the forest gave the monastery mistake to Mount Szampisza and Wolgastsee. Prince Bogusław V of Pomerania hunted in 1360 near the village of the last aurochs. A border dispute with Reimar of new churches was settled in 1390. 1468 were sold to the monastery Pudagla Korswandt, Zirchow and Senin.

After the Peace of Westphalia in 1648 the place as the whole Western Pomerania became Swedish. In 1709 he was first called Korswandt. At the end of the Great Northern War Korswandt became Prussian as the island of Usedom by 1720. King Frederick II had lower the Gothensee for land reclamation and drain the Thurbruch. To this end, he instructed the General Council Szczecin Ulrich with the establishment of a colony. In the village street Ulrichshorst that was named after its founder, 30 families from Mecklenburg and Swedish Pomerania were settled.

After the administrative reform in 1815 Korswandt came to the Prussian province of Pomerania and belonged from 1818 to 1945 the district of Pomerania. From 1945 to 1952 formed the congregation, with which, after the Second World War, remaining in Germany part of the district of Pomerania, the Usedom in Mecklenburg County.
