Kosho Uchiyama

Kosho Uchiyama (Japanese内 山 兴 正, * 1912, † 13 March 1998 ) was a Zen master of the twentieth century in Japan. He was ordained in 1941 by Sawaki Kodo Roshi monk and took care of his master until his death in 1965 at the monastery Antai -ji, which was then still located in northern Kyoto. After Sawaki's death Uchiyama succeeded him as abbot of Antai -ji after, and there were gathered many students around him. He was also known for his many books, which have been partially translated into German. 1975, he retired from the Antai -ji and lived with his wife in the Noke - in, a small temple in the south of Kyoto, where he died on 13 March 1998.
