Kosovo District

The district Kosovo ( Serbian: Косовски округ / Kosovski okrug, alb. Kosova ) is viewed by Serbia as an administrative district. The area is located in the central part of Kosovo.

On 17 February 2008 the parliament of Kosovo declared the independence of the state; the Serbian district classification plays therefore in reality no longer matters.

The area consists of the following major towns:

  • Uroševac ( Урошевац / Ferizaj )
  • Obilić ( Обилић / Obiliq )
  • Glogovac ( Глоговац / Gllogovc )

  • Kosovo Polje ( Косово Поље / Fushë Kosova )
  • Štimlje ( Штимље / Shtime )
  • Štrpce ( Штрпце / Shtërpcë )
  • Kačanik ( Качаник / Kaçanik )

The administrative headquarters of the district was the city of Pristina.
