Kotitzer Wasser

The Kotitzer water at Buchenwald

The Kotitzer water, Sorbian Kotołka or Kotečanska woda, is a left tributary of the Löbauer water in Upper Lusatia in Saxony climes.

Course

It rises 360 meters above sea level on the eastern slope of the mountain on the eastern judge Czornebohmassiv at Jauernick and carries in its upper reaches, the term buttermilk water. The creek flows east to Nekhen where it crosses under the highway 6 on the western outskirts.

In Lauchagrund the buttermilk water bends west of the state road 178 at Sheep Mountain (321 m) to the northwest. To Width village and Kohlwesa the railway line from Lobau along leads to Bautzen in the valley. Here the stream changes its direction to the north and is known as Kotitzer water.

The Kotitzer water flows through the hills to Lauske where the villages Zschorna and Lauske lie. Here the river forms a so-called scale, the rocky valley of Lausker Enge was made in 1967 as " Lausker scale " under protection. On both sides of the valley are prehistoric ramparts, right side, the left side of the hill and Zschornaer Lausker jump, on the 1807 romantic ruined tower was built, which served as a lookout until the Second World War and then fell into disrepair. Further north Kotitz and Oberkotitz on the river, which then flows westward into the valley of Löbauer water where it feeds the Necherner and Wurschener ponds.

Here the Kotitzer water flows south next to the water Löbauer ago and is characterized by a plurality of trenches (eg the Ritschka ) connected to it. Along the Kotitzer water are the villages Nechern, Belgern and Cannewitz. Above this village the valley of the two rivers separate again and the Kotitzer water passes under the Federal Highway 4 to the northwest.

The last place on the lower reaches is Gleina. On Guttauer Auewald the Kotitzer water flows after 25 kilometers in the Löbauer water, even if at this point the average flow of the Kotitzer water is greater than that of its main river. One reason for this is that flows over the above-mentioned water from ditches Löbauer into Kotitzer water.
