Kotuy River

The Kotui (Russian Котуй ) is 1409 km long, right-side and south- source river of the north Chatanga Siberia (Russia, Asia) and runs in the former Taimyr Autonomous District in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Course

The Kotui rises slightly north of the Arctic Circle in the lonely Putoranagebirge, the northwestern part of the Central Siberian Uplands. Its source lies in the former Autonomous District of the Evenki on the border of the former Autonomous District of the Taimyr on a about 10 km south-west of the 1701 m high Kamen (the highest mountain of the mountain ) located mountain (1510 m). Initially the Kotui flows southeastward through the northern part of the mountain and thereby extends only through the Charpitschasee and then through the Djupkunsee. A little later he turns to the northeast and takes the water of Moijero on. Finally, he unites much further north in the south of the Taimyr peninsula located Taimyrsenke in settling Kresty ( Кресты ), about 15 km south-west of the village Chatanga located, with the Cheta to Chatanga. The latter leads to the northeast in the Laptev Sea, a marginal sea of the Arctic Ocean.

Ice conditions

The Kotui is frozen from late September / early October to late May / early June.
