Koulikoro

Koulikoro is a city in Mali. It is the capital of the Koulikoro Region and lies on the banks of the Niger River, 59 kilometers from the state capital, Bamako.

The municipality has 43 174 inhabitants ( census 2009). Koulikoro is an industrial location and end point of the Dakar - Niger railroad line. Between August and September - the end of the rainy season - can the Niger are used to transport goods to Ségou, Mopti, Timbuktu and Gao.

Since 1989, Koulikoro is connected in a three - city partnership with Quetigny in France ( near Dijon ) and Bous in Germany ( Saarland).
