Kournas

The Hassan- Sea ( Greek λίμνη κουρνά ) is the only natural freshwater lake in the Greek island of Crete. It is located in the west of Crete, near the north coast near Georgioupolis. The outlet of the lake flows into the Mediterranean Sea at Georgioupolis. Here live turtles, snakes, and various species of dragonflies. It will be awarded to undertake trips paddle boats on the lake.

The lake water is alkaline because of the calcareous rocks of the Cretan mountains and feels laugig until soapy.
