Kozie chrbty

The Kozie chrbty ( German about goats or goat comb back) are a mountain range in Slovakia, south of the town of Poprad. They are made from tourist point of view often considered a part of the Low Tatras, ask officially for several decades, however, a private mountain dar. This is part of the Fatra - Tatra region of the Inner Western Carpathians.

Location

The mountain range extends over a length of about 40 km - with a width of only about 5 km - from west to east direction from the confluence of the Čierny Vah ( Waag Black ) and the Biely Vah ( Waag White ) at Kráľova Lehota to about the village Spišský Štvrtok. It is divided into two geomorphological subunits in the westerly Važecký chrbát ( approximately crest of Važec ) and Dúbrava (about Oak Forest) in the east.

Economy

Tourism

Tourism plays in the Kozie chrbty, in the immediate vicinity of the High and the Low Tatras and Slovak Paradise are only a minor role. Its most famous attraction is the Važecká Cave.
