The community of Krakow village with 650 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) located in the judicial district or district Murau in Austrian province of Styria. From 1 January 2015 it has joined forces framework of the Styrian municipality structural reform with the communities Krakauhintermühlen Krakow and shadow, the new community will bear the name " Krakow".

Geography
Krakow village is the capital of Krakautals, a high plateau, which extends in the southern part of the Schladming Tauern mountains in east-west direction. It houses three municipalities with a total of about 1500 inhabitants. On the south side of the plateau is located northwest of the village of the municipality of Krakow Krakauhintermühlen, west to the Salzburg Provincial border the community Krakow shadows.
Krakow village consists of a single cadastral.
History
Krakow village is one of the oldest settlements in the Rantentales, but was called from the Middle Ages to the 16th century " Lessach ". From the 13th century, the area of jurisdiction of Liechtenstein was assumed. The abolition of the manorial system was carried out in 1848., The local church as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938 the congregation to Reichsgau Styria came from 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.
Culture and sights
Local attractions include the mountains, small chapels ( inter alia with the " Styrian Lord God " ), lakes and the Günster waterfall is the largest waterfall in Styria with a length of 65 meters.
Customs and traditions play a big role in the end. Every 2nd year in February return in the " Damisch Mountog " (Rose Monday), the carnival runners again; a loud moving from house to house of about 50 people with pointed hats, followed by a commercial pack with horse, Rossknecht, flayers, blacksmith, etc. The origin of this custom goes back to the squire that about 200 years ago in Bishop hole of Preber ( 2,740 m) silver deconstructions. The circular dance, Radl or Kranzl led these miners for the first time.
At Easter burn in many places in the valley sometimes up to 12 m high timbered Easter fire.
On the first Sunday of August is celebrated the Oswaldisonntag. The church festival in honor of St. Oswald begins with a procession through Krakow village, while the girls wear adorned statues of Mary, the boys the Holy Oswald through the village. In the afternoon, the Samson has made its appearance along with Protect Guard.

The award of the municipality coat of arms was made with effect from 1 August 1981. Coat Description: In Silver a black crow bar-like increases a red crown beseitet each a star in the shadow color.
