Krakow shadow is a municipality with 313 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the judicial district or district Murau in Styria. From 1 January 2015 it has joined forces framework of the Styrian municipality structural reform with the communities Krakauhintermühlen and Krakow village, the new community will bear the name " Krakow".

Geography

Krakow is located in the shadow Krakautal in Murau district in the Austrian state of Styria. The Krakautal is a plateau which extends in the southern part of the Schladming Tauern three municipalities ( Krakow village, Krakauhintermühlen, Krakow shadow ) with a total of about 1500 inhabitants. The community consists of a cadastral district.

History

From the 6th century Slavic settlers cleared the area. From the 9th century, Bavarian settlers arrived in the Krakautal. In the Middle Ages there were various landlords. From the 17th century the area was mostly owned by the Prince Schwarzenberg. The abolition of the manorial system was carried out in 1848., The local church as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938 the congregation to Reichsgau Styria came 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

Coat of arms

The award of the municipality coat of arms was made with effect from 1 June 1982. Coat Description: In the increased of green and silver divided shield on a black crow bar, two adjoining computing benches, the top silver with upturned silver teeth, the lower red with fallen red teeth.
