Kralovice

Kralovice ( German Kralowitz ) is a city in the Czech Republic. It is located 23 kilometers south-west of Rakovníka in Rakonitzer hills and part of the western Bohemia.

Geography

The city is located creek on a plateau on the left bank of the Kralovický. By Kralovice the state road leads 27 from Pilsen to Žatec that crosses in place with the 201 between Manětín and Zvíkovec and of the 229 branches to Rakovníka. Kralovice located on the railway line Mladotice - Rakovníka, which is operated in the section Kralovice - Mladotice only in bus transport.

Neighboring towns are Vysoká Libyně, Hubenov and Hradecko in the north, Kožlany in the northeast, Dřevec, Hodyně and Buček to the southeast, and Výrov Hadačka the southwest, Mariánský Týnec, Trojany and Bukovina in the west, and Olšany Sedlec in the northwest.

History

The first mention of Kralovice was in 1183, when Duke Frederick the market village left the monastery Plasy. 1283 was the elevation to the humble town. 1547 Kralovice received by Ferdinand I., the full city rights.

Owner of the domain Kralovice were the noble families Kolowrat Griespek of Griespach and Metternich. After the replacement of patrimonial Kralowitz in 1850 to the district town and lost this status in 1949.
