Kranioi

Cranes ( in the antiquity and ancient Greek Κράνιοι Kranioi in Modern Greek, Κράνη ( f sg ) Krani ) was a town on Kefalonia and in the ancient part of the Tetrapolis on the island. In the Peloponnesian War Kranioi stood on the side of Athens, the settled 421 BC fled from Pylos the Messenians there.

Due to the malaria, the city had to be abandoned. 1.5 km from the new town of Argostoli was founded. The former town area is an archaeological site today.
